Experimental Study of Drag Coefficient and Vortex Shedding of Venturi-Cone (V-Cone) Flow Meter

The purpose of this study was to experimentally evaluate the hydrodynamic drag coefficient on a V-Cone flow meter. Additionally, we wanted to evaluate the vortex shedding frequencies to determine if dominant low frequencies exist and are predictable.
Tests were conducted on a 15.24 cm (6 in) insertion plate V-Cone flow meter and the drag coefficient was determined to be 0.879. Experiments on vortex shedding did not yield any definitive results.
