The relationship of personality needs and romanticism to marital adjustment is the major area of concern in this study. It must first be ascertained if complementary needs are the basis of mate selection. If they are, the relationship that may exist between complementary needs and marital adjustment, and complementary needs and length of marriage must be determined. Compatibility of the romantic sentiment and marital adjustment will likewise be investigated.
