Energy Disposal in the 320 NM Multiphoton Dissociation of Co(CO)3NO

Excited Co* atoms were generated from the multiphoton dissociation of synthesized Co(CO)3NO at 320 nm. Emission spectra from excited Co* were examined with ISA JY-640 monochromator which was controlled by and recorded using LabVIEW virtual instruments for data acquisition and control. Through spectral analyses of excited Co* metal atoms, the electronic temperature of Co* and the amount of initial excitation energy remaining in the Co product following ligand dissociation were determined.
