This paper is an investigation into the origins, development, and significance of the secret military conversations conducted between France and Great Britain prior to World War I. These conversations were believed to be a part of the secret diplomacy that drew Great Britain into the war. These elements of mystery and controversy help to make the topic interesting and its connection with World War I provides a veritable sea of reference material. This material gives the project sufficient scope to become an honors project and offsets my foreign language deficiencies as the many foreign documents of this period are readily available in English.
