Without a doubt, this project was performance-oriented. This written thesis, therefore, has been compiled solely to serve as an instrument whereby the reader may gain insights into the project. No one individual was witness to all the performances of The Pacific Gas Company or witness to all of the planning and preparation which made the tour possible. Because of this, the attempt of this thesis is to not only describe the details of every phase of the production, but also to justify the decisions that were made. I do not feel that an understanding of the true essence of this project can be gained by merely reading this thesis since the project was performance-oriented; I do not consider the thesis to be an integral element of the project, but rather consider it as my description of that project.
