This paper presents an overview of all methods of the enhanced recovery of hydrocarbons in current practice as well as those which are being investigated for possible future use.
The three major types of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) are the thermal, gas, and chemical methods of recovery.
A discussion of the different methods in each of the above categories allows a preliminary selection of the most advantageous method to be used under the variable conditions found in petroleum reservoirs.
