When I decided to write on the search for meaning in a century particularly conscious of absurdity, it was with an awareness that my theme has undergone a change from the philosophy of Socrates to the ashes of the Wasteland view vividly portrayed in Samuel Beckett's Endgame. And I knew that some of the major literary trends of our time would inevitably influence the expression I wanted to explore and create. I wish to trace some of these influences now.
