The impetus for this study originated from suggestions made by the President of the Pilot Chemical Company, Mr. John Morrisroe, and my Research Advisor, Dr. Krantz. The goals of this project, as they were initially conceived, involved the search for a method of substituting high-molecular-weight alkenes onto a benzene ring which contained a chlorine atom. The possibility of insecticidal properties are often present when chlorine and an alkyl group are present on an aromatic ring at the same time.
