Biology | Cell and Developmental Biology | Life Sciences
Cell-free extracts of Chlorella pyrenoidosa contain a remarkably high amount of malic dehydrogenase. Preliminary experiments indicate that the enzyme is synthesized three times during the light phase of the life cycle of this organism. Ultra-centrifugation of extracts reveals that 82% of the total malic dehydrogenase is soluble. Techniques for efficient extraction and partial purification of malic dehydrogenase from C. pyrenoidosa are also presented.
