It was nearly three years ago that I first encountered the thought of Soren Kierkegaard and entered into the fascination which issues in the present paper. Since that time I have read all of the more than twenty volumes of Kierkegaard's works which have been translated into English, in addition to numerous biographies and commentaries. I continue to be deeply thankful that I followed the impulse to become acquainted with the thought of that great man, for it has been the most decisive influence in the development of my philosophy of life.
