Friedrich Durrenmatt is a contemporary Swiss author. Born January 5, 1921, he now lives with his wife and three children in Neuenburg, Switzerland. His writing has consisted mostly of prose and drama, and has included an interesting attempt to revive the detective novel as a worthwhile literary form. In the areas of drama he has written eight theater plays, and as many radio plays. The scope of this paper will be limited to these plays for the theater.
