Since the advent of Apple’s iPhone, applications on mobile devices have never been the same. Many mobile GIS applications have been developed and used in many GIS industries, for instance, banking, surveying, public transit, and agriculture. Agri-Empire, Southern California's premier potato grower, packer, and shipper, was interested in possessing a mobile application that would allow users to discover trends and identify elements that affect crop yields through the use of spatio-temporal data. The purpose of this project was to create a cross-platform mobile GIS web application that would allow users to visualize crop information over the years and make calculated decisions for future crops. This project’s application, built with ArcGIS API for JavaScript and jQuery, was designed specifically for iOS and Android tablets. This project resulted in an effective visualization and decision support application, which can be accessed remotely from anywhere. It also demonstrated the advantages of implementing enterprise GIS as it was needed for this mobile application to successfully function.
