Geographic information systems technologies have been a fundamental component of precision agriculture for many years. However, due to the high costs of entry and the focus on variable rate input application technologies such farming methods have historically been restricted to large scale industrial farms. Oasis Ranch Management, a mid-sized grower of citrus and specialty fruits, was interested in exploring how GIS could be beneficial to their operations by facilitating knowledge capture and spatial yield tracking, and by providing a method for the creation and editing of data from a mobile device while in the field. This project developed a solution built around an ArcGIS Online organizational account for the storage and hosting of data and a mobile compatible web application that will help to achieve these goals.
