The project implements a way to easily create paper map products for the Loma Linda University, Community Outreach and Development group. The focus of their study is to identify and mitigate the causes of childhood obesity in the San Bernardino School District. Children were the target group because there has been a severe increase in childhood obesity, health related issues, and subsequent lower test scores. The study looked to quantify the changes from implemented programs for local decision makers, identify need in the county, and also to educate the community about healthy alternative choices in food and activity for those affected. Paper products were used to identify these needs and provide a spatial story for specific schools that study group can leverage to provide change in the lives of elementary students for the betterment of their health and future success.
