Abstract

Meditation research is riddled with problems (Bezanson, Note 1) and has been justly criticised (Smith, 1975; Woolfolk, 1975; Shapiro & Giber, 1978). Meditation researchers have called for specific improvements in and a general sophistication of the research (Shapiro, 1979b; Carrington, 1978; Walsh et.al., 1978). These investigators have offered valuable suggestions but no publication comprehensively and systematically offers positive direction to the field.
