Abstract

The Slow Professor: Challenging the Culture of Speed in the Academy is an appropriate title to review as part of the AMLE special issue “Rhythms of Academic Life: Frost and Taylor 20 Years on (Billsberry et al., No Date).” The audiences for both books are slightly different. As Arbaugh (2004) points out in in his review of Frost and Taylor, its audience is mainly those pursuing careers at doctoral-granting institutions, or at least to those management academics who are relatively research oriented. Berg & Seeber’s intended audience leans toward academics at mid-career. Because of its wider focus on teaching, it is also of interest to aspiring management academics who work for teaching-oriented schools.
