Women in Sports: Factors Influencing the Choices Women Have Made

Within the last 30 years, the participation levels of women in sport have increased dramatically. I will take a historical survey of some of the factors that have affected sport participation for girls and women and the social changes that have led to increased participation in the last few decades. There are several disciplines which attempt to address the evolution of women in sports, but I believe that in order to gain full knowledge of the past, the present and the future, we must pull all our resources together and view the situation as a whole.
